Online rmdl or pwc Courses

This method of learning is new for 2014 and allows you to complete the theory component of the course in the comforts of your own home and allows the flexibility of completing the course at a time that best suits. Depending on your choice of course, time frames vary but once enrolled in the course, you are free to start and stop until each of the modules are complete.

On completion of the course, a certificate of competency is generated and you are able to book an assessment session at time that best suits. Depending on the timing of this session and the course selected, practical training and assessment times will vary.

option 1 - boat course (cost $100 online + $50 practical)

Once enrolled in the online boat licence course you will be directed to our online learning environment.

Topics covered during this theory session include trip planning, navigation, emergency awareness, weather and tides. During this course you will be required to demonstrate competency by answering a range of questions at the completion of each of the modules.

Once you have completed the online course, simply book for an assesment and practical session. Depending on the timing of this session, practical training times will vary, but in most cases it is best to allow approximately three hours.

option 2 - pwc course (Cost $100 online + $50 practical)

The BoatSafe approved PWC Licence course is available to anyone holding a current and valid QLD boat licence (RMDL.)

Topics covered during the theory session include trip planning, navigation, PWC specific regulations, riding/handling and maintenance. To complement the development of this knowledge , the on water training helps to provide the essential handling skills required to safetly manage a PWC.

Once you have completed the online course, simply book for an assesment and practical session(time 90 minutes).

option 3 - boat/pwc course (cost $200 online + $50 practical)

The BoatSafe approved Boat/PWC Licence Course is suited to students wishing to complete both licences at the same time or those needing the the PWC licence as it is compulsory in QLD to have the boat licence as well.

Topics covered during this theory session include trip planning, navigation, emergency awareness, weather and tides along with pwc rules and regulations. During this course you will be required to demonstrate competency by answering a range of questions at the completion of each of the modules.

Once you have completed the online course, simply book for an assesment and practical session that will cover both of the licences. Depending on the timing of this session, practical training times will vary, but in most cases it is best to allow approximately four hours.

option 4 - extended Prac (cost $100 online per licence + practical)

This option can be arranged to provide an extended practical session that includes the assesment along with a training sesion that covers an extended navigation of the Southport Broadwater.

Sessions begin at our venue in Gold Coast City Marina and travel north towards Jumpin Pin or South towards the Gold Coast Seaway. This extended training session is best suited to those who are new to boat or pwc ownership, have purchased a vessel and have minimal experience of the area. Extended sessions can also include practical skill development of berthing. mooring and anchoring and can include a tour of the best anchorages the Broadwater has to offer. We supply both the boat and pwc used in the training session with course times and costs varied depending on the requirements of the student.

course costs and duration

The boat and pwc licence course both have a cost of $100 for the online training. This payment must be made on enrollment of the course and can be payed through a number of the usual methods. This cost includes access to the online learning environment for which the theory component of the course can be completed. If the boat and pwc course is combined the cost of the online training is $200. Times to complete the theory component of the course vary depending on the student, but typically allow 4-6 hours for the boat and 1-2 hours for the pwc.

On completion of the online theory component of the course you will be required to attend a pracitical training and assessment session in combination with a wriiten theory assessment. We supply both the boat and the pwc for this session. The cost to complete this assessment is $50 to be paid on the day of the assessment. (Note, if you complete both the boat and pwc you only pay $50 once).

Refund Policy for online courses

Once enrolled and booked into an online training course, any initial payment is non-refundable. If you decide after enrollment that you would prefer to complete a face to face course, this can be arranged on request, providing a position is available on the selected course date.
