BoatSafe workbook

The new 5th edition of the boatsafe workbook has been released. Gold Coast Boat and Jet Ski uses this workbook as a guide during both boat and pwc courses. Hard copies are supplied on the day of your course or can be downloaded as a pre study guide.

Maritime Safety Queensland has released digital versions of the popular Beacon to Beacon Guide. These charts cover the Southern Gold Coast from The Seaway south to Currumbin Creek.

recent changes to pwc regulations

In 2012 Maritime Safety Queensland introduced new safety regulations for Personal Water Crafts. Changes include the need to carry flares and a v-sheet when operating in partially smooth and open waters. Other changes can be read in this fact sheet.

recent boat safety changes

Is your boat compliant with new PFD regulations? It is now a requirement that all vessels clearly display lifejacket stickers if the PFD's are not visible. Further information is provided in this fact sheet.

pwc use at night(light regulations)

If you plan to use you PWC at night, does your vessel comply? Regulations require a PWC to display navigation lights (port/starboard) and an allround white light. The white light on many PWC's may be illegal as it has to be at least 1m above the nav lights. Further information can be read here.

tow in surfing code of conduct

Planning to ride your PWC to tow-in? A Code of Conduct for Tow-In Surfing exists and if you are riding on a Gold Coast beach, local laws state a vessel must not be used within 400m of the low water mark on most beaches other that Burleigh and Currumbin. The Code of Code can be read here..

Be apart of the global safety initiative to educate about the safety of Personal Water Craft use. Gold Coast Boat and Jet Ski licensing is dedicated to safe riding practices and the need to educate about marine safety.
